  • Principle Organist, 1st United Methodist Church, Denton, TX

    1st United Methodist Church, Denton, Texas, a downtown congregation of 2,000 members, is seeking a principle organist, beginning February, 2011.
    This part-time position will provide the majority of organ music (service music, hymns, anthem accompaniments, preludes, postludes) for 2 traditional Sunday morning worship services as well as accompanying Wednesday evening adult choir rehearsals. Presence at a limited number of additional seasonal services (Lent, Advent) is expected as well. Sanctuary organ is a 1999 Bozeman tracker.

    Additional duties may be assigned commensurate with experience and congregational need; choral conducting experience is a plus. Ancillary playing (weddings & funerals, etc.) will be shared with organist emeritus Dale Peters. Short-listed candidates should be ready to submit references and audio recordings.

  • Organist ⁄ Accompanist, First United Methodist Church of Coppell, TX

However, comfort and familiarity and interest with other styles is a substantial benefit (global, contemporary, gospel, southern gospel, etc…) It is also important that this person approach the position with a heart and desire for ministry.

  • Organist, NorthPark Presbyterian Church, Dallas, TX

    Scope
    The Organist will assist in providing music for the choir(s) including the Sanctuary Choir and other choirs, soloists, and ensembles used in NorthPark Presbyterian Church programs for all worship services except for those Sundays when the Artist-In-Residence is present (one Sunday each month). The Organist will serve as the Director of Music in that person's absence. The position is part time.

    Responsibilities
    Reporting to the Director of Music, the Organist collaborates with the Director of Music, the Head of Staff, and the Artist-In-Residence, and is responsible for all service music and accompaniments. The Organist has oversight of any volunteers who may assist in accompanying various ensembles. NorthPark Presbyterian Church's Personnel Policies and Procedures govern the Organist.

    Duties

  • Consult with the Director of Music on all aspects of worship services.
  • Plan music selection in collaboration with the Artist-in Residence.
  • Play at all worship services, and at other services and special events as requested and available.
  • Provide accompaniment for all choirs in the worship services.
  • Accompany the regular Sanctuary Choir rehearsal (Wednesday evenings 7:30 - 9:00) and any other necessary choir, solo, or ensemble rehearsals.
  • Direct sectional rehearsal of the Sanctuary Choir and small ensembles from the Sanctuary Choir as needed.
  • Rehearse and accompany soloists and instrumentalists participating in worship services.
  • Select music for the Prelude, Postlude, Offertory, and other portions of the worship services.
  • Arrange for regular maintenance, tuning, etc. of the instruments of the church, and consult on matters concerning the musical instruments of the church with the Director of Music and Head of Staff.
  • Play for funerals conducted by the church as requested and available as per church policy.
  • Play for weddings at the church and be paid in accordance with the current Wedding Policy Fee Schedule; consult with parties planning weddings at the church on selection of music in accordance with the current Wedding Policy.
  • Instruments
    NorthPark Presbyterian Church houses a 3 mm, 63-rank pipe organ built by Casavant Freres, as well as three grand pianos, and a 4 octave set of Malmark Handbells. NorthPark Presbyterian Church sponsors an in-house brass quintet, the Sine Nomine Brass, who perform for festival worship services.

  • Organist ⁄ Pianist, First Christian Church, Arlington, TX

    Organist/Pianist Needed Immediately

    The Music Ministry of First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), Arlington, TX, is seeking an organist⁄pianist to serve for two Sunday morning worship services and accompany Wednesday evening choir rehearsals. Additional services are required on Christmas Eve, Ash Wednesday, Maundy Thursday and/or Good Friday and 1-2 Choir Concerts per year. Applicant must demonstrate the ability to play traditional and contemporary styles and an aptitude for ministry through music leadership. Salary is competitive for approximately 10 hours per week (1/4 time), with opportunities to play for memorial services and weddings, and 2 weeks paid vacation per year.   • Organist/Music Associate, University United Methodist Church, Fort Worth, TX

    University United Methodist Church in Fort Worth is seeking a part-time Organist/Music Associate to begin October 1, 2010. Primary responsibilities will include playing for one weekly Sunday morning worship service and for Wednesday evening rehearsals, and for choral accompaniment that requires use of the organ, and / or piano. Additional services during the year will include Ash Wednesday, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, Lessons & Carols, and Christmas Eve. Other duties include accompanying the Sanctuary Choir, Youth Ensemble, and Children’s Choir. Funerals and weddings will be available at an additional fee if desired.
    University United Methodist Church has a wonderful 2 manual twenty-seven rank Dan Garland pipe organ, installed in 1998. The organ consist of 1564 pipes and thirty-two level memory system. This particular worship service at University United Methodist Church is of a traditional format, utilizing multiple styles of music and creative instrumentation, including orchestra for special occasions and services. The organ, however, plays a major role in leading our weekly worship. The successful candidate will need to be a strong and creative congregational hymn accompanist.
    Salary is negotiable based upon experience.
